Bigfoot Sighting at AVEVA Stadium
Rumors began swirling Wednesday morning from AVEVA stadium as there were many sightings of Sasquatch wandering around the home of the SaberCats. Many SaberCat staff began wondering what that elusive large creature from the NorthWest and Canada was doing in feline country.
It turns out that the initial reports, although inaccurate, were only slightly exaggerated. The truth is that the Cats’ new head coach, Pote (poh-teh) Human was touring the team’s facilities–his new home–for the first time. Further investigation revealed that this was also the first day ever for him to be in this country. To be fair, it is not difficult to see how Pote can be confused for the Sasquatch–he is 6’4″ and about 300 lbs, although not as hairy–much to his wife’s delight.
Incidentally, those of you that have followed the Cat Chronicles ( SaberCats’ podcast available on all podcast apps) know from his interview that Pote is truly our Bigfoot. When he was a child, it was noted that he had rather large feet (yep, big paws = big dog) so our future head coach was given the nickname of “Pote”, which in South Africa means “Bigfoot”. A name that to this day even his mother uses to address him. Fortunately for our players, he is friendlier than his twin up north and, most likely, a much better coach of rugby. We gladly cheer the arrival of our very own Bigfoot and taking another big step towards building the team for 2022 of which Houston can be proud. Pote will most certainly bring that Big Cat Energy to Houston.
